Hidalgo ISD- The #1 School District in Texas--Now Ranked Among The Top National Schools

The Hidalgo ISD Board of Trustees and the City of Hidalgo are delighted to celebrate the National Recognition and Academic Excellence for Hidalgo Early College High School at Hidalgo ISD.  The Gold Medal Award granted by U.S. News and World Report magazine placed Hidalgo 11th over the more than 18,000 public schools in America.

The well noted magazine, who in November 2007 officially named the Top 100 public schools, based their selections on certain criteria which included student’s performance on state tests, standing of economically disadvantaged students, and finally the college level academic course-work provided by the school.   Thus, Hidalgo High surpassed many others in the three aforementioned and earned itself the coveted Gold Medal Award surpassing many valley schools.

The Hidalgo Independent School District won the 2006
H-E-B Excellence in Education Award, making it the best school district in all of Texas.
The entire faculty and staff of Hidalgo ISD, as well as its community, are honored for this recognition. This was the second year that Hidalgo ISD was made finalists for the H-E-B Excellence in Education Award. This year, Hidalgo ISD competed against Cypress-Fairbanks ISD in Houston, Flour Bluff ISD in Corpus Christi, Highland Park in Dallas and North East ISD in San Antonio.
Hidalgo ISD is a Texas Education Agency "Recognized" School District.
This is the 9th consecutive year that Hidalgo ISD has been rated either Recognized or Exemplary.
