What is TexPREP?
The Texas Prefreshman Engineering Program (TexPREP) identifies achieving middle and high school sudets with an interest in engineering, science, technology, and other mathematics-related areas and strengthens their potential for careers in these fields. TexPREP is a collaborative effort of colleges ad universities located throughout Texas, that encourages students to begin preparing early for scientific and engineering career paths in schoo. With a focus on building a high quality and divere 1st century workforce, women and members of mnority groups, traditionally underrepresented in these areas, continue to serve as special target groups.

Academic Components
The Texas Education Agency has approved one (1) unit of elective credit for each summer of PREP (Year1, Year2, Year3, and Year4) successfully completed.
 
The TexPREP curriculum is presented over the course of four summers, with each academic component covering a seven to eight week period. TexPREP students also gather periodically on Saturday mornings throughout the year to continue with this unique learning experience.

Logic and Its Application to Mathematics
Introduction to Engineering

Year 2:
Algebraic Structures
Introduction to Physics

Year 3:
Introduction to Technical Writing
Introduction to Probability and Statistics

Year 4: (Limited Sites)
Introduction to Computer Science
Water Science

All Years:
Topics in Problem Solving
Career Awareness Seminars
Field Trips
Practice SAT and ACT (limited sites)
Examinations
