21st Century  


The 21st Century CCLC Program is a key component of President Bush's No Child Left Behind Act. It is an opportunity for students and their families to continue to learn new skills and discover new abilities after the school day has ended.
 

The Focus of this program, re-authorized under TItle IV, Part B, of the No Child Left Behind Act, is to provide expanded academic enrichment opportunities for children attending low performing schools. Tutorial services and academic enrichment activities are designed to help students meet local and state academic standards in subjects such as reading and math. In addition 21st CCLC programs provide youth development activities, drug and violence prevention programs, counseling and character education to enhance the academic compnonent of the program.

The ACE IT! Program is dedicated to help students perform at the highest potential in math, reading, writing and science. This year, the program is focusing on Reading and Writing.
The students that participate in the program are recommended by thier teachers. The goal is to provide students who need more assistance with individualized instruction to help them improve their academic performance. The staff student ratio in the program is 8 students to one teacher.

PITSCO LAB
The Pitsco lab is an exciting opportunity for students to engage in hands-on activities after school at Ida Diaz Jr. High. Students who attend this lab immediately sense an atmosphere of teamwork where they work together in order to accomplish different tasks such as solving a crime, creating a video production, designing websites, creating blueprints of a house, and many other activities that reinforce the learning of content areas like math, science and technology.
