Welcome

Welcome to Hidalgo High School, the "Home of the Pirates."  Hidalgo High School is a comprehensive high school serving approximately eight hundred fifty students in grades 9-12. Hidalgo High School is proud of its students’ record of academic excellence and service to the school and community. In 2006, Hidalgo High School was named a recipient of a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation grant, allowing Hidalgo High School to become an early college high school in partnership with the University of Texas – Pan American.
The Mission of Hidalgo High School strives to instill in our students to possess a common core of knowledge and skills to become life-long learners, analytical thinkers, effective communicators, and productive members of our society.  We continuously strive to seek high expectations for all students in their academic, civic, and social endeavors and to provide them with opportunities for a successful transition to higher education and the marketplace.  We are committed to establishing clear, rigorous, and demanding standards which encompass the necessary skills that students must demonstrate in order to succeed as responsible citizens of the 21st Century.
Our high school program is designed to engage students in active, collaborative learning that emphasizes the development of critical thinking skills to be applied to real-world concepts.  Further, we believe that an educational program which is academically challenging and student-centered will provide our young adults with a strong foundation for future success.
