Ida Diaz Jr. High is the only junior high campus out of 7 schools within the Hidalgo Independent School District. The campus is located in the City of Hidalgo which is part of the South Texas border, across the Rio Grande, and is the international fronteir to Reynosa, Tamaulipas, Mexico.
The campus has an enrollment of 711 students (246 6th graders, 225 7th graders, 240 8th graders) with 99.9 % being Hispanic and 0.1% Asian/Pac. Islander. 90.6 % are economically disadvantaged and 35.3 % are limited English proficient. Currently there are 51 certified teachers employed with the school.
