School History

Ida G. Diaz Jr. High opened its doors in the Fall of 1983. The school was named after alumni and former teacher Ida Guerra-Diaz, who taught at Hidalgo Elementary for 30 years.

Ida Guerra-Diaz was born February 17, 1911. She attended Hidalgo School, District #15 until she graduated in 1925. Diaz Jr. High was dedicated in her honor in 1983 for her years of dedicated service.

On July 12, 2003, Hidalgo ISD voters approved the sale of additional bonds in order to continue the improvements to the district's educational facilities. As a result, approximately $18 Million  of additional construction and renovations are underway. Improvements include remodeling and expansion of the Ida Diaz Jr. High school facilities.
