Class Ranking

What are the requirements to become a valedictorian or salutatorian?

Eligible students with the highest and second highest ranking as determined by the District’s class-rank procedure described in this Parent/Student Handbook and how:

  • Have been enrolled in Hidalgo High School for two full academic years immediately preceding graduation.

  • Have taken at least fifteen courses, which count for class rank.

Are graduating under the Distinguished Achievement Program with a minimum of thirteen credits in courses designated as Pre-AP or AP.


What is the rank policy for an early graduate student?

A student’s class ranking shall be determined within the graduation class of the school year in which the student completes all requirements for a diploma, regardless of the number of years the student is enrolled in high school.
