Nonattendance may result in assessment of penalties by a court of law against both the student and his or her parents, or the student’s legal guardians. A complaint against the parent may be filed in the appropriate court if the student:

• Is absent from school on ten or more day or part of days within a six month period in the same year, or
• Is absent on three more days or part of days within a four-week period.

Also it is important that is understood that excessive absences is the cause of credit loss. A student must attend at least 90 percent of the days the class is offered, otherwise the student may be referred to the attendance review committee to determine whether there extenuating circumstances for the absences and how the student can regain credit.

All students are to pick up excuses form the attendance clerk between 7:20 a.m. – 7:45 a.m. Students who do not bring a written note form their parents the day following the absence will be marked unexcused. Students will not be admitted to class without an admission slip an it must be signed by each teacher in which the student was absent.

Absolutely not, a student will be permitted to make up tests and turn in projects due in any class missed because of absence, but by no means an excused absence will result in excused missed work.
