Parental Career Pathways Academy

An Opportunity to Achieve More

The Hidalgo ISD Parental Career Pathway Academy partnership program is funded by the 21st Century Grant and South Texas College, but is under the direction of the Hidalgo ISD Parental Involvement Program.

The partnership program uses new and innovative ways to connect parents and education.  This type of community engagement provides parents with opportunities to gain Literacy Skills, Occupational Skills, and attain Post-Secondary educational certificates.

The Career Pathway Academy enrolls parents with limited English proficiency through two years of challenging language acquisition courses. After completing the language acquisition courses, the parents are then prepared to continue their pathway through Workforce and THEA Academies.

These academies prepare parents by providing GED and Occupational Skills Training, as well as, Reading, Writing, and Math test preparations. Thereafter, parents are able attain their GED’s, which then gives them the opportunity to obtain a post-secondary education.
