Hidalgo ISD is committed to parental involvement at the district and campus levels providing parents the skills and resources needed to empower them to help their children succeed academically and in life. Parent centers were established at all seven campuses as a place where parents can learn strategies to support their children's school work, understand the system, and to coordinate volunteer work. The centers' activities include: English classes, parenting skills, computer basics, arts and crafts, research-based discipline tips, cooking and nutrition classes. Hidalgo ISD has partnered with South Texas College to establish the Parental Career Pathways Academy for parents. Parents are provided with opportunities to obtain English Literacy, and a post-secondary education. The program is funded in part by the 21st Century Grant and South Texas College. Hidalgo ISD is committed to a strong partnership with parents, in order to impact student learning.
The Parental Involvement Program has the same strategies as the “No Child Left Behind” concept and the Hidalgo ISD Parental Involvement Facilitators are trained so that no parent shall be left behind either.
