ACT
The ACT is a national college admission examination that consists of subject area tests in: English, Mathematics, Reading and Science. The ACT includes 215 multiple-choice questions and takes approximately 3 hours and 30 minutes to complete with breaks (or just over four hours if you are taking the Writing Test). Actual testing time is 2 hours and 55 minutes (plus 30 minutes if you are taking the Writing Test).

Students entering a Texas public college or university must take the THEA Test before enrolling in any college-level coursework. For information about whether you are exempt from testing, contact either the testing office or the advising office at the Texas college or university you currently attend or plan to attend.

Region One Education Service
The Region One Education Service Center, in partnership with 30 middle schools articulating to 21 high schools in 21 South Texas school districts, the University of Texas–Pan American, Texas A&M University-College Station, and the Charles A. Dana Center at the University of Texas at Austin, established the GEAR UP: Bridges to the Future Partnership. This partnership restructures school services to provide a knowledge pipeline to postsecondary success for 8,250 traditionally underrepresented youth.
