The purpose of the multicultural fair is to provide an opportunity for our learning community to gain knowledge about different cultures around the world as well as demonstrate proficiency in two languages (English and Spanish).
The multicultural fair is an event that brings together grade level teachers and students to research and learn about a selected country. Through research and preparation, students prepare a presentation to showcase different aspects about the country such as symbols, history, literature, arts, traditions, foods, and more. Grade levels compete against each other in different categories during the in-campus competition. The categories are as follows: Grades PreK4-1st grade, 2nd-3rd, and 4th-5th. A winner is selected from each category goes on to the District competition where they get a second chance to compete and display their work.
Making the multicultural fair a success is definitely a challege that brings together a team for a common purpose. But it's also without doubt an excellent opportunity to show our community and beyond the great things that can be accomplished with hard team work and determination. Additionally, it's fun work that helps wrap up a successful year of learning for our students.
Congratulations to all students, teachers, staff, and parents for their hard work and dedication! At the 2009 District Multiculture Fair, Kindergarten and First grade earned 1st place and Fifth grade earned 2nd place.
