Every school year students in the grades 3rd through 11th grade take the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills better known as TAKS. At our school campus, we have very high expectations for our students and believe that every student can achieve high academic performance, but for that to occur, everybody has to work very hard, especially the students. But success is not only achieved through hard work; motivation plays a very important role as well. For that reason, every attempt is made to motivate the students in different ways. The Parade of Champions is one of them and marks only the beginning of such motivational events.

As part of the motivational events, in February, our school holds a series of activities throughout the week before the first TAKS administration, which culminates with the Parade of Champions. These activities include dress up days for all students and staff. Below you will find the dress up themes:
Tuesday "Team Up For TAKS" Wear Favorite Team Jersey Wednesday "Lasso The TAKS" Wear Western Clothing Thursday "Sail thru TAKS" Wear Hawaiian Clothing
On Friday, the school holds the Parade of Champions. Teachers and students in the lower grades wing, join together to decorate the hallway with a festive mood using balloons, banners, and more. This is done in preparation for a parade of champions, students from 3rd through 5th grade who will be taking the test the following week. As the students are parading through the hallway alongside their teachers, students from Pre-K through 2nd grade sit alongside their classrooms with noise makers, confetti, and above all, sincere cheers ready to motivate the students. This is an event that has already become a traditon and it has proved beneficial in helping the students relax and gain confidence about taking the test.
