The Hidalgo Elementary Student Council is elected every year in September.  Students are elected from a group of fifth grade students who wish to run for office.  The offices are: president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer, sergeant at arms, and public relations officer.  Students must be in good standing to participate in the Student Council.

Once elected, officers get involved with various aspect of the school activities.  The president has the responsibility of working with the school staff in order to improve the school environment.  The supporting student officers assist the president of the student council to initiate important projects for the school.
