The Dr. Alejo Salinas Jr. Elementary cheerleading squad is composed of 10 girls and 3 boys from the fourth and fifth grades. Under the leadership of Miss M.E. Guerra, the purpose of the team is to promote student achievement and maintain a high morale in the school and among students. Participation in the squad also serves as a motivator to those who are involved by teaching discipline and providing leadership skills.
-Girls and boys who are interested in joining the cheerleading team are encouraged to try out.
-Try outs are held once annually, usually at the beginning of each school year. -Students must provide a signed consent form before they are allowed to try out for the team. -During try outs a student is required to perform a chant, a cheer and a dance.
As members of the Dr. Alejo Salinas Jr. Elementary cheerleading team, students are responsible for the purchase of their own uniform as well as for any other costs incurred throughout the year, that pertain to the membership. Team members also have the responsibility of practicing for and participating in various annual events. Some of the events that the team may participate in are as follows: *Homecoming Parade
*Christmas Parade of Lights *High School and Junior High Pep rallies *High School and Junior High Game Night *Border Fest Parade *School programs |
