Hidalgo Elementary School is dedicated to improving the Gifted and Talented Program and assisting all those students who qualify under the program to go above and beyond the regular curriculum. Hidalgo Elementary will identify, nurture, and develop the advanced skills of each of its individuals by timely identification and education.
The Mission of the Gifted and Talented Program is that each child will develop sensitivity to the social and cultural needs of the community. Students in the program are encouraged and directed toward becoming more civically minded. Students become leaders in the present as well as for the future. The skills learned and the leadership developed will help the area become richer and more desirous of new ideas and knowledge through empirical research.

Students are identified for the Gifted and Talented Program throughout the year. Students are accepted for the G/T Program if they have previously qualified at other school districts. The proper documentation is gathered and placed in a student gifted and talented folder which follows the child throughout his education at Hidalgo I.S.D.
